QED was established in order to satisfy a passionate dream, building upon my 17 years of career with the UK civil service during which time, I was deeply touched by and hugely appreciated the openness of the UK government and diplomatic community. I met people from many different ethnic backgrounds sometimes with vastly different understanding of cultures and alternative views of international affairs, but with one thing in common – we are here to contribute to a better world. This same living and breathing philosophy was given to me by my parents from a very young age and is it this which drives my ambitions.
We all come to this world with a dream – to make it happen and make it real may be too challenging, and too hard to persevere. Self-motivation and courage are the foundations to ground your dreams, wisdom and knowledge of others are essential to nurture and safeguard them. There were more than a few drives for me to set up QED, but there is only one aim – that is to present the real and best values of world class UK education. Our network in the UK is supported by well respected educators who delight in sharing their knowledge and wisdom to make the world better place and to help you to fulfill your dreams.

I am delighted to be working with the inspirational Qin Li as UK CEO of QED. I joined QED as Qin and I share a vision of providing high quality educational experiences to the students at any level.
Like Qin, my belief in the value and benefit of excellence in education was embedded in me at a very young age by my parents. My father, a beneficiary of the UK grammar school system in the 1940s, and the first generation in his family to go to University (he worked in Further Education (FE)), and my mother (who was a teacher) invested a huge amount in the education of their four daughters.
I began my own higher education journey at the University of Birmingham in where I graduated with first class honours in 1984. I then went on to the University of Cambridge (St Catharine’s College) as a PhD student (completing my studies in 1989). I have subsequently worked as a Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Reader and Professor at four UK Universities – the University of Reading, the University of Birmingham, the University of Surrey and the University of Southampton. I have enjoyed two extended periods at higher education institutions (HEIs) overseas (New Zealand, 1985 and Canada, 2006).
From 2008-11 I was Lead Innovation Fellow at the elite Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC)/ Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) Advanced Institute of Management Research (AIM). I am a Fellow of both the Academy of Social Sciences (FAcSS) and the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA).
More important than all of the above, however, I am a mother of three children; Amelia, 22 who graduated with first class honors from St John’s College, Oxford and is now a trainee solicitor with ‘magic circle’ City of London law firm Slaughter and May; Theo, 21 (reading History at the Russell Group University of Birmingham) and Benedict, 16 (currently studying at Peter Symonds College in Winchester).

Eleanor is a Finance Professional and Entrepreneur. She was a Director at Credit Suisse Investment Bank for 16 years advising Hedge Fund clients on FX Derivative solutions. She also served on the Vice President Promotion Committee fostering talent in the company, and she was a senior mentor on the Fast Track Mentoring Program. Prior to that, Eleanor was an Associate Director at Investment Bank UBS for 5 years managing Scandinavian clients and Emerging Market Sovereign Wealth clients.
Lawrence studied music at Oxford University and was the music Director of Wycombe Abbey with a in-depth knowledge of top school interviews including at Wycombe Abbey. He is specialized in helping the students preparing for their entrance assessment interviews.
Geoff is currently the International Director of the UK’s oldest independent school. Prior to his international role, Geoff had responsibility for design, education quality, human resources and international relations and partnerships.
she has over 30 years’ experience in many UK universities and two extended periods in HEIs overseas (New Zealand and Canada). She graduated with first class honours from the University of Birmingham and went on to complete her PhD at St Catherine‘s College in Cambridge. A geographer subsequently in the confluence of fields that is business and management, Michelle has extensive knowledge of UK universities (especially Oxbridge and the prestigious Russell Group), admissions processes, league tables, internationalisation, regulatory frameworks, etc.
Graduated in English Language and Literature from St John’s College, Oxford University. She has a special interest in Victorian and Modern literature. In her final year at university She wrote dissertations on Henry James and Virginia Woolf. She is also an experienced musician and composer, with a high standard of jazz theory knowledge.
Clarissa graduated from Oxford University with first class honours in English Literature. She has a range of tutoring experience in English Literature and History, from ages 8-18. Besides exam preparation, she has offered extra-curricular tuition for senior schools and university applications and helped pupils struggling to adjust to the English school system. Whilst at Oxford University, Clarissa worked for a number of student magazines and volunteered as Welfare Officer, training as a peer supporter. She also helped to run Freshers’Week.
After graduating in 1990 for his Education degree, Andrew taught in the UK for 4 years, before moving to teach in Hong Kong, working for the Yew Chung Education Foundation. In 1996 he was promoted to Co-Principal at Yew Chung’s Beijing International School and then in 1998 returned to the UK as Director of Academic at The Dragon School in Oxford, one of the most prestigious independent schools in England. In 2005 he became the Headmaster of Ferndale Preparatory School in Oxfordshire. Andrew specializes in tutoring students from the ages of 8 to 16, including preparation for 11+ and 13+ exams for UK independent schools and Maths and English GCSE and IGCSE examinations.
George is a graduate of the University of Cambridge, having studied in Trinity Hall for a BA in Natural Sciences followed by a Masters of Mathematics (MMath) specialising in Theoretical Physics and Applied Mathematics. Now he has started a research PhD at Imperial College London. He has worked closely with the Trinity Hall Cambridge outreach and admissions team on access events, including giving short example “supervisions” and lectures to sixth form students (on curved spaces and on quantum teleportation) with classes ranging between five to thirty. These had the aim of introducing students to the exotic and interesting geometries and mathematics beyond sixth form. He has given yearly admissions lectures and tours to sixth form students in which they discuss the process, what the interviewers are looking for, and what life is like at Cambridge.
